Research

The main research focus of the Stokes Lab is the discovery and development of efficient and enabling methods for the transformation of small organic molecules. One project area is focused on the development of transition metal-catalyzed reactions mediated by tetrahydroxydiborane, including hydrogenations of unsaturated C–C bonds. A second area involves developing reactions to prepare or engage compounds containing quaternary carbons. We also develop target-oriented syntheses for collaborations wherein small organic molecules are used to modify nanoparticle behavior or serve as monomers for new responsive polymers.
